3.1.20. Camshaft and case of the camshaft


Prevention

You make removal of the case of the camshaft on the cold engine. At installation of the case of the camshaft use new bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders and sealant.


Without removing the camshaft case the camshaft it is possible to remove from the engine only in the presence of the special tool for pressing of pushers of valves at extraction of the camshaft.

At removal of the camshaft with use of the special tool it is necessary to take off previously a gear belt and a pulley of the camshaft.

In the absence of the special tool it is necessary to remove the camshaft case. Because at removal of the case of the camshaft it is necessary to unscrew bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders, it is recommended to prepare new laying of a head of the block of cylinders.

Removal and installation of the case of the camshaft are a part of operation on removal of a head of the block of cylinders (see subsections 2.19, 2.20).

Dismantling

Extraction of the camshaft from the camshaft case on the engine of 2,0 l

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the distributor case from a head of the block of cylinders.
2. Remove the ignition distributor, and on l C16 NZ2 engines 1,8 and 2,0, using an edge of the thin screw-driver, remove a back sealing ring of the camshaft.
3. On engines with the carburetor remove the fuel pump.
4. Unscrew two bolts and remove a persistent plate of the camshaft (see rice. Arrangement of bolts of fastening of a persistent plate of the camshaft).
5. Take the camshaft from the left end face of the case of the camshaft (see rice. Extraction of the camshaft from the camshaft case on the engine of 2,0 l).

Check

Removal of a forward sealing ring of the camshaft on the engine of 2,0 l

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check a condition of bearings in the camshaft case. Check that openings for supply of oil to the camshaft were not blocked.
2. Check necks and cams distribute a telny shaft on wear.
3. Check a persistent plate of the camshaft for existence of wear and flutes and, if necessary, replace it.
4. At removal of the camshaft it is recommended to replace a forward sealing ring of the camshaft (see rice. Removal of a forward sealing ring of the camshaft on the engine of 2,0 l).

Assembly

Installation of a new forward sealing ring of the camshaft on the engine of 2,0 l

Installation of a new back sealing ring of the camshaft on the engine of 2,0 l

Tightening of bolts of fastening of a persistent plate of the camshaft on the engine of 2,0 l

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Using a tubular mandrel of the corresponding diameter, establish a forward sealing ring of the camshaft (see rice. Installation of a new forward sealing ring of the camshaft on the engine of 2,0 l).
2. On the C16 NZ2 models 1,8 and 2,0 of l establish a new back sealing ring of the camshaft. On other models replace a sealing ring of the distributor of ignition (see rice. Installation of a new back sealing ring of the camshaft on the engine of 2,0 l).
3. Grease the camshaft, bearings of the case of the camshaft and working edges of a sealing ring with fresh engine oil. Being careful, install the camshaft in the camshaft case.
4. Establish a persistent plate of the camshaft and fix it by bolts. Check an axial side play of the camshaft. If the axial side play of the camshaft exceeds admissible limits, replace a persistent plate (see rice. Tightening of bolts of fastening of a persistent plate of the camshaft on the engine of 2,0 l).
5. Install the fuel pump.
6. Install the ignition distributor.
7. Install the camshaft case.
8. At installation of the new camshaft observe the following mode of a running in:
— one minute at 2 000 rpm;
— one minute at 1 500 rpm;
— one minute at 3 000 rpm;
— one minute at 2 000 rpm.
9. At installation of the new camshaft do not change engine oil during the run of the first 1 000 km.
