6.24. Check and adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition
Prevention
For check and adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition it is necessary to use a tachometer and a stroboscope. At adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition it is necessary to operate the engine on unleaded gasoline.
MODELS 14 NV I 16 SV

| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. Start the engine and warm up it up to the normal working temperature, then switch off the engine. |
| 2. On models 14 NV disconnect a vacuum tube from the vacuum regulator of a corner of an advancing of ignition. |
| 3. A wrench for a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a bent shaft turn a bent shaft clockwise before combination of a tag on inside of a pulley of a bent shaft with the index on a casing of the oil pump. On models 14 NV with two tags on a pulley, I correspond shchy 10 ° and 5 ° to VMT turn a bent shaft before combination with the second tag (5 ° to VMT). Using white paint, note a tag on a pulley. |
| 4. Connect the stroboscope sensor to a high-voltage wire of the first cylinder, and also a tachometer according to the maintenance instruction. |
| 5. Start the engine on idling turns (700 – 1 000 rpm). |
| 6. On models 14 NV direct a stroboscope beam to the index and a tag and check that the tag was combined with the index. |
| 7. On earlier models take the cap defining an ignition advancing corner. The cap can be determined by the black wire connected with it is brown / red and is brown / to the yellow wire connected to the heating socket under the ignition coil (see rice. An ignition coil arrangement on models of 1,6 l). In this case the MSTS-i block receives a constant signal which corresponds 10 °° to VMT and not increasing ignition advancing corner on engine turns to 2 000 rpm. Direct a stroboscope beam to tags, at the same time has to seem that the tag is combined with the index. |
| 8. On later models 16 SV, C16 NZ and C16 NZ2 the cap changing an initial corner of an advancing of ignition is not used. For check of system of ignition it is necessary to use the special equipment Opel. |
| 9. Adjustment without the special equipment will not yield exact results, but approximate installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition is possible. After that it is necessary at the first opportunity to address on service station for adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition with use of the special equipment. |
| 10. At independent adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition note the provision of a sign on extension of the relief line on the lower external casing of a gear belt. |

Adjustment
| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. In case a tag are not combined with the index, weaken a tightening nut of the distributor of ignition and turn the distributor case in the required party. |
| 2. Tighten a nut of fastening of the distributor of ignition and check combination of tags. |
| 3. Switch off the engine and disconnect a stroboscope and a tachometer. |
| 4. On models 16 SV establish the cap defining an initial corner of an advancing of ignition. On models 14 NV connect a vacuum pipe to the vacuum regulator of a corner of an advancing of ignition. |

OTHER MODELS
On l models 1,8 and 2,0 adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition is not provided and is made by the ECU block.
