13.6. Automatic transmission
Prevention
Because the transmission represents very difficult unit therefore it is difficult to diagnose and eliminate malfunction in the transmission. Do not remove the transmission from the car for repair before malfunction as the majority of tests demands that the transmission was in the car is not professionally revealed.
Liquid leak
• The used transmission liquid of usually dark color therefore do not mix leak mo-even oil which drops can get on the transmission with transmission liquid.
• For definition of a source of leak of transmission liquid clear a transmission case of pollution, using special means or steam. Make a control trip on small distance at a small speed so that in the presence of leaks from the transmission the stream of air did not take down transmission liquid from the place of leak. Lift the car or install it over a viewing hole and define the place of leak. The most probable places of leak of liquid:
and - the oil pallet;
b - a pipe for the probe of measurement of level of transmission
liquids;
with - places of connection of pipes from the heat exchanger.
If transmission liquid has brown color or smells of ashes
• Operation of the transmission with the low level of transmission liquid. At the same time it is necessary to replace transmission liquid.
Indistinct choice of transfers.
• Usually wrong choice of transfers is connected with the wrong adjustment of a cable of the choice of transfers. Also indistinct choice of transfers can be connected also with other problems:
and - start of the engine is made not in position of PARK or NEUTRAL of the lever of the choice of transfers;
b - on the display panel the established transfer is incorrectly highlighted;
with - the movement of the car can happen in position of PARK or NEUTRAL of the lever of the choice of transfers;
d - unsystematic gear shifting.
The automatic transmission does not switch to lower of transfers at the pedal of an accelerator (KICK DOWN) pressed against the stop
• Level of transmission liquid in the transmission is lower than norm.
• The switching cable is incorrectly adjusted.
The engine is not started at installation of the lever of the choice of transfers to any situation or started in other provisions, except PARK or NEUTRAL
• Position of the switch of blocking of a starter is incorrectly adjusted.
• The switching cable is incorrectly adjusted.
The automatic transmission is switched by breakthroughs, slips or does not transfer torque on all transfers
• The reasons can be much, but it is only independently possible to check and if necessary to bring to norm the level of transmission liquid in the transmission.
